Rules of air transportation of parrots

The package of documents for the parrot is prepared for each country separately. In almost all states, they require:

• A certificate from a veterinarian confirming the health of the bird and the absence of infectious diseases;
• An international veterinary passport indicating the vaccinations and procedures for the removal of parasites;
• Certificate of chipping (banding) of the feathered;
• Negative infection tests;
• A certificate for a parrot or a contract of sale.

 

When assessing the possibility of importing birds into the country during a customs inspection, they are guided by the CITES list. It specifies which birds and animals cannot be imported into the state. All documents must be translated into the official language of the destination country or into English.

 

 

Conditions for transporting a parrot on a private plane

On ordinary civil aviation aircraft, birds are allowed to be transported both in the luggage compartment and in the cabin. If the parrot's cage is more than 115 cm in size (the sum of all sides), then it is transported only in luggage or by buying a separate place.

The parrot should only be in a carrier for the entire flight, so special requirements are imposed on it:

1. Birds in airliners are transported only in special carriers with all necessary certificates. The use of self-made structures is prohibited;
2. The carrier should have such a size that the bird can spread its wings in it;
3. If the flight is planned in summer, then a cage with metal bars will do. If it is planned for winter, choose such carriers in which the bird will be reliably protected from cold air;
4. All devices inside the structure, including a drinking bowl and a feed bowl, must be securely fastened;
5. The bottom of the cage should not leak moisture, and a reliable lock must be attached to the door.

During the flight, it is not recommended to open the cage with the parrot and release the feathered one into the wild. You need to take absorbent diapers or napkins with you, this will keep it clean, both in the carrier and in the cabin of the aircraft. Two birds in one cage are not placed on board liners. That is, you will have to purchase two specialized carriers for two parrots. During the flight, the cage can be covered with a dark cloth, birds behave more calmly in the dark.
